For much of the 20th century, Cambridge was known for its textile mills. One of the last survivors of this industry, and a major employer in town when I was growing up, was Tiger Brand.
It's roots date back to the 1880's and over the next 125 years or so, the company was owned by five generations of the Warnock family.
In its later years, Tiger Brand produced not only its own house brands such as Non-Fiction but also lines for big clothing retailers such as Nordstrom, L.L. Bean, Eddie Bauer and The Gap.
This photo today features their first mill along the Grand River on Water Street, along with a portion of the later, larger factory that replaced it.
Who knew someone who worked at Tiger Brand?
