12 Super Tips for Growing Lots of Tomatoes!

1. Plant tomato stems deeply to encourage more root growth, making the plant stronger and more stable against wind and weather.
2. Remove the lower leaves once the plant reaches 60 cm (24 inches) to prevent disease and improve photosynthesis.
3. Pinch off suckers (small shoots that don’t produce fruit) so the plant can focus its energy on tomato growth.
4. Apply mulch around plants to retain moisture, protect the soil, and reduce contact with the ground, preventing diseases.
5. Place copper strips or pipes around plants to deter slugs and snails.
6. Use supports or stakes to keep tomatoes upright and strengthen the stem.
7. Leave 60-90 cm (24-36 inches) of space between plants to ensure they receive enough sunlight.
8. Water properly to prevent cracking, always watering from below to avoid splashing the leaves and reducing disease risk.
9. Add a teaspoon of Epsom salt to the planting hole or watering can every 2-3 weeks to promote healthy growth.
10. Provide slow, deep watering to ensure moisture reaches the roots, keeping the soil consistently damp.
11. Plant marigolds near tomatoes to repel nematodes and protect the roots.
12. Grow garlic near tomatoes to enhance flavor and reduce fungal infections.
Follow these tips and enjoy a bountiful tomato harvest!
