Saw this snapping turtle lasting it's eggs. Likely had a dozen already when I got there. In a span of about 25 minutes I watched as another fifteen eggs were laid.
Snapping turtle eggs hatch late fall but some hatchlings will overwinter and wait until spring to crawl out.
If you see a turtle nest call Rare org turtle rescue line.
They build nesting boxes of wood and wire to deter raccoon, skunk and crow from eating the eggs

While some don't like to walk in the rain,I take full advantage of it. Everyday objects take on a different vibe.

A good day to be outside . I don't tend to focus on one type of photography. While nature is what I primarily capture,I also like arts and culture events, architecture and photos of shiny happy people

Almost a month to the day and all the Canada goose eggs have hatched. Yesterday morning the final one hatched. Early this morning the nest lay empty, other than broken shells. Mama and Papa swam nearby; 5 ducklings following Mama and one following Papa.
Some found swimming much easier than running or walking in shore, tripping over there own feet and not knowing how to brake.

Even on the cloudiest days there are vibrant pops of colour everywhere. While the tulips and daffodils are dropping their petals, there's plenty more colour

The condo towers of the Gaslight District add a 21st century backdrop to the mostly 19th century skyline of Galt's Queen's Square.

Urban Trails in Cambridge are plentiful. Be it just for leisurely walks or photo ops

Great Blue Herons can likely be found along the Speed and Grand Rivers in Cambridge as well as trees by the bodies of water.
Holiday weekends tend to be quieter and with rather cloudy skies I ventured out and found this gorgeous blue heron along the river in the Galt core

Captured this photo last year about the same time. Quite the diverse sightings in a rather short span from the Galt Rowing Club to the old quarry.
