Birding

Birds I saw this morning on the premises here in downtown Kitchener.

The chip call of the Northern Cardinal caught my attention this morning as I worked on my computer inside the closed window beside my desk. But I didn't know what it was. I'd never seen the Cardinals coming to my balcony, though the chickadees are at the feeder all the time, just outside my window. This did not sound like Chickadees.

My cat was also watching something very intently so I went for a look. I couldn't believe my eyes--a male Northern Cardinal was right at my door, then hopped over to the sunflower seed the Chickadees had dropped yesterday.

By that time I had my camera and photographed pictures till it disappeared around the corner. Then a Dark-eyed Junco and Mourning Dove appeared to also feed on the sunflower seed. (I didn't know so much had dropped!) On the roof of a nearby house I saw a Robin.
