Please gather up your kite string and fishing line as these are the greatest peril to our wildlife. This pigeon had kite string around its ankle ,weaving through its does and feathers on its belly . A nail clipper is small enough to carry wherever you go.

This male Northern Cardinal was singing and singing. Another Cardinal on a nearby block answered. One would sing a song and then the other would sing a song. I don't understand Cardinal language, but I wonder if they were negotiating territory. I've been told that birds sing in spring to claim their territory for a nest and raising young. We are definitely in mating/breeding season. To my human ear, it was just a lovely sound.

Spotted this gorgeous female red winged blackbird this morning. She sang a little song,then a male came flying down and off she went

Our Last Next Door Neighbor decided to raise chickens with the city allowing two birds. Recently a by-law was passed to allow some of the property owners with-in counties be able to have chickens for fresh eggs and use for urban friendly pest control being the free range creatures they are. Here is a neighbourhood Sussex Rooster out on patrol. Jabba the Hutt cat knows that this whily bird is not to be messed with. Better to just nap and watch.

When I was living in Deep River along the Ottawa River my pumpkin bird feeder attracted several species of birds like this trio of Morning Grosbeaks. I fed using sunflower pumpkin and niger seeds. The chipmunks loved the pumpkin and a black bear and deer would sometimes eat the whole thing. Birding sure is a fun way to observe a creature that gets smarter as they get older.

I liked these three amigos regulars.
