Every year, about the first week in June, I start seeing fledgling birds that have just left the nest. If I'm lucky, I'll see an adult feeding a juvie.
The last couple days I've been hearing a chirring or burring kind of sound in the trees. Sometimes I see two or three of these chirring-burring birds together, and they are always very active, chasing each other or flying away.
It's dark birds but they don't sit still long enough to get a picture so I can see what bird it is. Today, I sat under the tree and watched, searched, till I found the source.
Newly fledged European Starlings, so young the feathers are soft and grey-coloured. But there's a twist. I think it may also be adults. On All About Birds, I found European Starlings sound tracks for Juvenile Calls and for Flock Calls. They sounded exactly alike. https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/European_Starling/sounds
Two views of the same bird. It was really hard to get in the twigs and leaves, but these cropped frames from videos are decent.
