Birding

My back yard feeder has a new visitor this season. A Pileated Woodpecker has taken over the feeder and this bird the size of a crow can eat its weight in suet. So the flicker, bush tits and nut hatches have to wait in line or gather the crumbs below. This species of woodpecker is native to North America. This insectivorous bird is a mostly sedentary inhabitant of deciduous forests North America, the boreal forests of Canada, and parts along the Pacific Coast. Been back often enough to maybe give him a name.
