This chart is a visual of how conservation efforts can have dramatic and positive effects on the overall decline of bird populations

Raptors and waterfowl have benefited from the ban of DDT’s and the good work done by Ducks Unlimited

Grassland birds and insectivores however are in decline, even steep decline as a result of habitat loss and the continued use of insecticides

This is a “birds eye view” , the situation is indeed more complex. And if you drill down to specific species you will see some of our arial insectivores have declined 90% or more while raptors like the bald eagle have made a remarkable comeback from the edge of extinction
