I've learned so much about birds in the last 3 years since I started this great hobby! I was really surprised the other day about what I saw and subsequently learned.
I had my camera focused on this Eastern Kingbird, waiting for it to take flight. Suddenly it opened it's mouth really wide as if maybe going to catch something, but instead it regurgitated a pellet!

Every year, about the first week in June, I start seeing fledgling birds that have just left the nest. If I'm lucky, I'll see an adult feeding a juvie.
The last couple days I've been hearing a chirring or burring kind of sound in the trees. Sometimes I see two or three of these chirring-burring birds together, and they are always very active, chasing each other or flying away.

Sexing Mourning Doves
I never knew one could tell male and female Mourning Doves apart; I thought both looked all grey. But this spring I've been seeing a dove with a pinkish breast. I put out a birdbath, which attracts them. On the evening of May 18, two doves were on the birdbath.
