One of Galt’s finest baseball players and an Inter-County Baseball legend was born on this date in 1931. Wray Upper was a 13 time all star during a 21 year career with Galt and Brantford. He was a fixture at third base for the Galt Terriers leading the league in hitting in 1958 with a .413 average and as playing manager leading the Terriers to the 1963 Ontario Championship and the 1964 and 1966 Inter-County Championships. Who remembers visiting the Reporter building on Ainslie Street? When I was around 10, it was a regular Saturday morning visit to drop off subscription money collected from my delivery route. Many years later, I worked in the advertising department during the final years of the Reporter's existence.

The original Galt Hospital, which predates the current Cambridge Memorial Hospital, was located at the intersection of Avenue Rd. and St. Andrews St. This location was later replaced by the new Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Coronation Boulevard.

This post is on two of them, Ephraim Munson and his wife Lucy. As is referenced on the Generations' website, the couple are mentioned in James Young's History when they play host to Absalom Shade and possibly an Indigenous Guide, in July of 1816.
